Method: where the figures come from

Every figure on this site is copied from a published page and printed with the day we read it: law and limits from the revenue service, the deposit-insurance limit from the corporation that runs the scheme, rates from the banks' own pages, policy and bill rates from the Reserve Bank's data feed.

Two dates matter on a rate row: the day we read the page and, where the bank prints one, the day its table took effect. An empty cell means the bank does not list that term in the table we read; it is never zero.

We do not copy figures from news, comparison sites or memory. Where a bank's page could not be read, or shows only a headline such as an 'up to' rate, we print no figure for that bank.
